Dreamoor is an online world. It is not a single-player game. You play it online with many other players, each of whom have their own stories to roleplay out.
Dreamoor has a persistant central server, meaning your character stays the same between sessions of the game. Changes made to the world remain--build a house and it stays built for all players to see; kill the king and he remains dead. The stories of Dreamoor are formed and advance at a regular pace as everyone plays.
Its style of play sets Dreamoor apart. Playing the game does not involve fighting hordes of rats until you level up. There is no fighting for the sake of fighting. Players can take part in massive wars between entire civilizations, vie for political dominance, and adventure through mythical unexplored lands. There are plenty of monsters to slay, but they're not there just to give players EXP and gold... they, too, have their own goals and purposes. Every part of the game is part of the ever-changing storyline.. the storyline you as a player writes.
The unique setting of Dreamoor gives it its feel. It does not take place in a medieval, Tolkienesque world with elves and orcs. The world of Dreamoor is much more vast, and most closely matches Earth in antiquity.
